Sripadha, also known as Adams Peak

Sripadha is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Sri Lanka. This enchanting village, surrounded by lush greenery and mis-covered mountains, transports you to a different era. As you walk through the cobblestone streets, you can't help but feel a sense of tranquillity wash over you.

The peak is located in the Central Highland of Sri Lanka and stands at an elevation of 2,243 meters (7359 feet). It attracts a large number of visitors, specially during the pilgrimage season from December to April. The most common route is through the town of Dalhousie, where the climb starts around midnight to reach the summit at sunrise.

I have travelled to Sripadha three times with my husband, in 2017, 2018, and 2019, respectively. The journey to Sripadha is not easy, as we have to climb up the mountain to see its natural beauty. Nevertheless, Sri Lankans never miss climbing up this historically valued mountain yearly to worship, as it was blessed with the divine presence of the Lord Buddha.

The history of Sripadha dates back centuries. Legend has it that Lord Buddha himself visited this sacred land and blessed it with his divine presence. The air in Sripadha seems to carry a mystical energy , as if the whispers of ancient stories and prayers linger in every corner.

Sripadha is considered as a sacred site by Buddhist, Hindus, and Muslims. Buddhists believe that the footprint-shaped impression on the summit belongs to Lord Buddha, while Hindus associate it with Lord Shiva, and Muslims consider it to be the footstep of Adam.

We wanted to see the sun rising at the top of the Sripadha, and we adjusted the time and planned our journey to be at the top when the sun rose because of its breath-taking panoramic view and the spiritual significance it holds for various religious groups.

The view of the sunrise from the top of Sripadha is absolutely mesmerizing. As the first rays of sunlight pierce through the morning mist, they cast a golden hue over the surrounding landscape, creating a picturesque scene that is both calming and awe-inspiring.

Climbing Sripadha is considered a challenging yet rewarding experience. So, I have accepted the challenge three times and need to get this rewarding experience to explore its natural beauty with breath taking sceneries.

The Sripadha, also known as Adams Peak is definitely worth a visit...
